Mowave Launches Maxim TV on Mobile Across 12 Countries
Tuesday, 22 November 2005
Leading mobile entertainment and solutions provider Mowave announces the launch of Maxim TV on operator portals around the world.
The Maxim TV service is part of an ongoing content partnership between Mowave and Dennis Publishing, publisher of Maxim Magazine, the world’s biggest men’s magazine with 27 international editions launched in 36 countries. The service will feature content assembled from local magazines from around the world, such as behind-the-scenes footage of cover shoots, Little Black Book girls, and video footage produced for Maxim’s popular series of DVD inserts.
The service has already been launched on operator decks in the UK, Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Korea, South Africa, Singapore, New Zealand, Russia and Israel and there are plans for a number of additional launches over the next several months. Maxim TV will be delivered in a wide range of lengths and formats, ranging from 10-second downloadable clips to 1-hour streamed loops, depending on the strategies of the individual network operators.
“Maxim content is perfect for the mobile phone experience because it can be enjoyed equally in any time increment,” said Mowave CEO Giles Richter. “Maxim has a wealth of local video content from around the world that is both compelling to local viewers and also easily enjoyed by an international audience. The ability to think globally and act locally is one of the great strengths of the Maxim brand and its network of local licensees,” he added.
“The challenge to delivering mobile video across so many territories is that, unlike the PC web, mobile requires that video be adapted to a large number of varying handset and network specifications,” said Mowave President Andy Schachtel. “It would have been impossible to carry out such a wide launch without our existing close technical partnerships with the operators.”
