MMI Partners with Dennis Publishing
in Maxim Global Deal
Mobile Media International (MMI), a global wireless services company,
announced today a deal with leading independent media firm Dennis Publishing
to distribute its Maxim Mobile service worldwide as part of Dennis' latest
global agreement with Vodafone.
Under the deal, MMI will deliver the Maxim Mobile service across the Vodafone
network and others worldwide. Vodafone offers the world's largest mobile
community, serving over 139 million proportionate customers. Maxim is the
world's best selling men's lifestyle magazine with 26 editions available
in 36 countries. It has a global monthly readership in excess of 14 million.
MMI and Dennis first launched the highly successful Maxim Mobile site on
Vodafone live! in the UK in June 2003, and subsequently on the Orange and
o2 networks.
The service consists of Maxim-branded wallpapers, ring tones, video clips,
games and other interactive applications, along with a localized mobile
version of Maxim magazine.
Giles Richter, CEO of MMI, comments: "In taking Maxim Mobile global,
we will be able to leverage our global delivery platform to the Vodafone
live! network and others, and also build on the successful strategies developed
for Maxim in the UK. We enable Maxim to integrate seamlessly with local
network operators and service partners worldwide, while maintaining a cohesive
strategy and remaining flexible."
Richard Bean, international licensing director at Dennis, said: "After
our hugely successful launch with MMI in the UK, it is a natural extension
to take the service worldwide. We are delighted to extend our relationship
to a global scale."
By the end of September, MMI will be providing Maxim Mobile to different
mobile operators in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Portugal,
Singapore, Sweden, and Japan. The service is also planned for France, Spain,
Italy, Germany, Greece, and Belgium by end-2004.
